These Adire Alabela Precut are your gentle introduction to using indigenous African Fabrics in your projects.
The 2021 Challenge has taken us back to Africa, to the Adire fabric of the Yoruba people of Western Nigeria.
This fabric is produced by a particular community in Abeokuta, renowned as the Adire capital of Africa.
Adire generally means 'tie-dye' but Adire-Alabela refers to the technique of making these types of Adire.
Melted wax is used as the resist used to draw the designs on cotton fabrics.
