2022 Summit Speaker Information + Resources

I am so excited and honoured to have you as a guest in this year's African Fabrics Movement Summit which will be a 3-day event holding July 2022.
The main goal of the summit remains to help quilters and other textile artists push the boundaries of their creativity by confidently including African Fabrics and learning new ways of using them in their projects.

I've put together information and other resources on this page, to help us keep track of all that the summit entails and also to answer any questions that might arise as we go forward.

With an emphasis on the benefits of quilting on mental health.

The focus of the Summit for us as speakers is to:

Take Participants On A Creative Journey With African Fabrics with an in-depth step-by-step focus on these 5 points:

  1. Working with African Fabrics
  2. Selection & Preparing
  3. The Creative Process
  4. The Finish
  5. Share
Using these points as milestones, we will nudge and carry along each participant down a creative path and encourage them to be present and make it personal; so it's enjoyable and beneficial to them.


How The Summit Will Work 

Having nailed down our goal and purpose, here's a quick rundown of how everything will work.

The event will run from July 6-8 2022 with 4-5 live presentations running each day.

These presentations will include 45-60 minutes of featured speakers who will give us glimpses into their lives as textile artists by sharing the things that have made them successful in their areas of skill.

We will also have hands-on workshops within a period of 60-90 minutes where the presenter will guide each participant into starting and completing or as good as completing a project.

Each speaker and presenter is welcome to pitch any product, service, workshop, class or any offer to the audience within this period.

This year, we will be hosting the Summit on a virtual platform specifically tailored for online events.

Each session will be interactive, moderated and facilitated by members of the Quilt Africa team, who are trained and committed to supporting you give your best presentation. 

 We will be having one or two sessions with all the Summit speakers, this is for 2 reasons,

  • To relay summit information as it involves the speaker and address questions and concerns so everyone can benefit.
  • In Quilt Africa, community is very important to us and having speakers in the same room will help us get to know each other and forge further collaborative relationships amongst ourselves.

We will also invite each speaker to a personal run-of-show event, close to the summit. Our experience of hosting online events has proved to us that this is crucial to building ease and confidence on the event day.

For the duration of the summit, we will create Q&A rooms for each speaker session where the participants can drop questions for the speakers. We encourage you to pop in there periodically to respond.

If we find the attendees still have good questions afterwards, we are exploring the possibility of you going live in the Quilt Africa Facebook group for a bit of an encore to answer those questions, connect with the attendees, and provide even more value.

Leading up to the summit, we’ll have two weeks of promotion. You’ll be provided with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics to make it all easy! I'll even have a suggested posting/sending schedule for you to make promo easy for you.

During the promotion phase, as the summit is running, and for a week after the summit is complete, we’ll also be promoting the Summit Speakers Bundle which includes resources and bonuses we’ll all throw in.

This will provide immense value to our attendees, while making the work of promoting and creating a presentation worthwhile by allowing you to bring in affiliate commissions. Woop!


What I’ll Need From You

To make this Summit as awesome for us and the participants, I will require these from you.

The first thing I’ll need is some very basic information from you so I can finish up our registration page.

This information includes:

  • Name

The next thing I’ll need is for you to schedule your presentation slot! Click here to see the list of times that are available and to schedule yours. (Slots are first-come first-served so if you have a tight schedule be sure to grab your spot right away)


This is a 60-90 minute live presentation that is meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and structured. We want our attendees to learn something great, while having fun in the process.

Please structure your content in a way that allows attendees to walk away feeling like they've really learned something, rather than where they feel like they're missing something that they need to buy from you asap.

With that being said, you have your choice of the following presentation formats:

  • Hands-on Workshop 

  • Slides

  • No slides

  • A mixture of the two

  • Interview-style

No matter what format you choose, you are free to use your presentation however you’d like in the future.

You’ll still be responsible for editing if any is needed, but we’ll work together to come up with questions.

Your presentation should include great, actionable content. Here’s the suggested format:

  • A quick introduction

  • An overview of your topic

  • How you learnt and developed your skill

  • Where people go wrong with your topic and tend to overcomplicate it

  • Trunk show/Bed turning

  • Up to a 3-minute pitch of your product or service (how the audience can buy your product or register for a class, workshop etc)

  • Feel free to ask  questions for attendees to answer throughout to boost engagement


The Speakers Bundle will be a huge addition to the presentations we’re running. To make it even more valuable, I’ll ask each of you to provide to me one resource to add. This includes things like:

  • eBooks
  • Patterns
  • Gift Cards
  • Discount Codes
  • Finished Art/Quilt
  • Workbooks
  • Discounted Courses/Classes/Workshops  (big or small)
  • 1-month Access to Your Memberships
  • Other Freebies

    It’s totally up to you to decide whether you’d like to create something new or provide something you already have. While this isn’t required, it’s highly encouraged that you participate.

    Anyone who does contribute a premium resource (aka not something you're giving away for free somewhere else) will get a 50% affiliate commission on sales, rather than 40%.

    Information for these resources is due on April 20, 2022. You'll receive a questionnaire to fill out to make passing the information to me nice and simple.


    The power of an online summit comes from a group of experts coming together for a single cause. The joint promotion that happens because of that is a huge benefit to everyone involved.

    Because of that, everyone is encouraged to share on social media and to email their lists during the promotion period at least once, starting May 1, 2022.

    You’ll want to share using your affiliate link (which you can set up here) so you can get in on the 40% commission that will come from any Africa Fabrics Creative Makers Kit sales (50% if you've contributed a premium bonus).

    I am also willing to take over your Instagram stories, write a guest newsletter/blog post, or do a live in your Facebook group (all with your affiliate link attached to help you get some extra conversions).

    You’ll find swipe copy and graphics in the Resource Vault (will be available April 28).


    And last comes participation during the week of the event. Since we’ll already have done the work of creating the presentations and extra resources, we’ll be able to sit back and relax for the most part!

    While you are not required to attend the events of other speakers, it’s highly encouraged! We’ll be able to get some great discussions going about the topics being presented.


    Affiliate Details

    While summits are great for overall visibility and making new connections, a little extra income never hurts.

    That’s exactly why I’ve set up an affiliate program for:

    • The Summit Ticket Sales
    • The Speakers Bundle
    • Kits for Workshops

     Where you’ll receive a commission from all sales from traffic you refer to the event. Payouts will be made by July 20, 2022.

    The commission structure is as follows:

    • 40% for all speakers

    • 50% for all speakers who include a premium bonus to the African Fabrics Creative Makers Kit

    The pricing structure will be: 


    • Limited Access Tickets: Allows access to all Summit days and for 3 months after.

    12 Months Access Ticket: Allows access to all Summit days and for 12 months after.

    Summit Speakers Bundle:

    • $77  for 15 minutes after initial opt-in

    • $97 from May 1-July 1, 2022

    • $115 from July 2 - 15, 2022


    To make it as easy as possible for you to generate extra income, the Resource Vault (will be available April 28) includes things like email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics.

    However, you’re more than welcome to write your own copy and even run your own Facebook ads. Past summits have had the Speaker Bundle convert between 16-19% so ads are a great way to get some extra traffic using your link!

    As with all affiliate promotions, be sure to disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing with your audience.
